Beijing language and culture university, referred to as "Northern Language University" for short, is an institution of higher learning directly under the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). It has been selected into the national project of building high-level university graduate students, the project of key disciplines with characteristics, the demonstration base for studying in China of the Ministry of Education, and the institutions where international students receive scholarships from the China government.

Beijing language and culture university is the only international university in China that focuses on teaching Chinese and China culture to foreign students in China, and is known as "Little United Nations".
