My son is 22 years old this year. Looking back on his 10 years of growth, I used to be very strict with my children, even harsh. It is my children who have fundamentally changed me. My education for children has a process from acceptance to release. In the meantime, two things fundamentally shook my original educational philosophy. The first thing happened in the winter when my son was in the second grade of primary school. At that time, he was less than 8 years old. That day, it was snowing heavily outside, and the snow scene was beautiful.
I want to take this opportunity to guide my child to write a diary of "It's snowing", so I will take him to the balcony, let him observe carefully, tell the scenery he saw, and I will help him add some more. Then, I led the children and said, "The snow scene is so beautiful. Shall we write a diary about the snow?" But the child firmly disagreed and said, "If the teacher didn't arrange it, I wouldn't write it." I coaxed him, but he still insisted on answering two words: "No writing". My authority was frustrated and I was angry.
Pulled him into the living room, raised his hand and slapped him on the ass several times. After each stroke, he asked, "Write?" The more you fight, the angrier you get. I had such an argument with my children that I hardly knew how to stop. No matter how hard I tried, he had only one answer: "No! Stop writing! " The harder I hit, the less he will give in. Finally, I had to stop first and choose to compromise. Because I found that when it comes to educating children, I am at my wit's end and can't control their will.
Surprisingly, after the child was beaten, he went to the desk and sat down without saying a word, crying and writing. This diary is not about snow, but a "condemnation" of my practice. The child is too young to write many words. The beginning of this "condemnation book" with pinyin mixed with Chinese characters is: many parents think that beating is pro and scolding is love. Parents beat and scold their children for their own good, but we don't need so much "love"!
If mom and dad are separated, I choose to stay with dad instead of mom! I was shocked to see this. On the one hand, I am surprised that a child under the age of 8 should have such an idea in his heart. On the other hand, I realize that the way I educate my children is unconsciously repeating my mother's way. If I don't change, I will make my children repeat the pain I suffered in the past.
