Xunzi's teaching content inherits the Confucian tradition, taking poetry, calligraphy, etiquette, agreement and spring and autumn as teaching materials, and is in the same strain as Confucius and Mencius' thought.

Xunzi brought his simple materialist epistemology into the teaching process, and thought that the most important thing in the teaching process was to give full play to the subjective initiative of teachers and students. He used "shine on you is better than blue" to motivate students and formulated a route of "from knowledge to action".

In order to practice his educational thoughts, Xunzi once extensively educated his disciples and taught academics in Lanling. His teaching played an important role in preserving Confucian classics. The people who passed on the scriptures by him later became teachers of the Han Dynasty, which opened up a new situation for the academic thought of the later Han Dynasty.
