The School of Foreign Languages of Jinan University was established in May 20001on the basis of the former Foreign Languages Department and the College English Teaching Center. Since its establishment, the School of Foreign Languages has developed into a comprehensive foreign language and literature teaching and research institution, with four teaching units: English Department I, English Department II, Japanese Department and College English Teaching Department, and two specialized research institutions with two master's degrees in English language and literature, foreign linguistics and applied linguistics. Faculty 134, including professor 10, associate professor 45, lecturer 56, teaching assistant 23 and administrative assistant 18. Among the in-service teachers, 17 have obtained doctoral degrees and 20 are studying for doctoral degrees.
