The school aims at "cultivating new talents with all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique, beauty and labor, green civilization and pioneering competitiveness". The philosophy of education and teaching is to "make every class a masterpiece", "treat every student as his own child" and "make every student make successful progress and let every student walk into a new environment as a winner". The school adheres to Scientific Outlook on Development, insists on establishing the school with efficient management, prospers the school with high-quality teaching, and builds a strong school with high-grade green civilization.

The school took off with a green concept. At the beginning of the school, environmental education was included in the agenda of the school's work and persisted for thirteen years. Honghe Ecological Monitoring Station founded by the school was jointly named as "Mother River Ecological Monitoring Station" at the provincial level by Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League and Zhejiang Environmental Protection Bureau. The school was jointly awarded the National Green School by the State Environmental Protection Administration and the Ministry of Education, and became the only private school in China.
