How can we protect historical sites?
Monuments (or immovable cultural relics, historical sites, cultural sites, historical sites) are the specific heritages or sites of our ancestors in history, culture, architecture, art, etc., including historical and cultural sites such as ancient buildings, traditional settlements, ancient city streets, archaeological sites, etc., covering political, military, religious, sacrificial rites, residence, life, entertainment, labor, society, economy, education and other fields. Once a building or site is listed as an ancient monument or a temporary monument, it will usually be protected by the competent authorities. Without permission, no one, including the owner, can change or modify it at will. If historical sites or archaeological sites are discovered due to the excavation of construction projects, in order to protect historical relics, the project usually needs to be stopped immediately. Management of Historic Sites in Chinese mainland The "historic sites" in Chinese mainland are called "immovable cultural relics" and the objects to be protected are called "cultural relics protection units". According to the Law of the Republic of China on the Preservation of Cultural Assets, the historical sites in Taiwan Province Province are classified into three categories: national historical sites (first-class historical sites), municipal historical sites (second-class historical sites) and county-level historical sites (third-class historical sites). Among them, those designated before 1997 are first-class, second-class and third-class historical sites, and those designated later are the competent authorities. The significance of the classification of historic sites depends on the historical influence it represents, and its level can be adjusted with the significance of the times. Due to the growing trend of preserving cultural assets, according to cultural significance, many municipal monuments with a history of less than 50 years have appeared, which is no longer equal to a century-old house. The classification of historic sites shall be reviewed, designated and published by all levels, and then reported to the Ministry of the Interior for reference. By the end of 2003, there were 556 historical sites in the Republic of China, including 25 first-class historical sites, 37 national-level historical sites 12 second-class historical sites10 municipal-level historical sites, 60 third-class historical sites, 22 county-level historical sites 187, totaling 556 sites. Historical sites in China and Hongkong are managed in China. Monuments are identified and managed by the Antiquities and Monuments Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. At present, 79 legal monuments have been identified, and three heritage trails have been planned, namely, the Heritage Trail in Central and Western District, the Heritage Trail in Pingshan and lung yeuk tau heritage trail.
