On June 28th, 2023, the Third Session of the 14th the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) voted to pass the Law on Barrier-free Environment Construction, which will come into force on September 28th, 2023.

On April 24, 2023, the draft law on barrier-free environment construction was submitted to the the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) Conference for second consideration. On June 26, the draft law on barrier-free environment construction entered three deliberations. On June 28th, the Third Session of the 14th the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) voted to pass the Law on Barrier-free Environment Construction.
