In China, teachers are respected by the whole society and are called "gardeners" and "engineers of human souls". In order to arouse the respect and care of the whole society for teachers, the state stipulates that September 10 is Teacher's Day every year.
There have been several Teachers' Days in the history of China. The first is June 6th every year, also known as "June 6th Festival", initiated by educator Taihe Cheng Qibao in 193 1 year. The second Teacher's Day is 1939, which is stipulated by the then Ministry of Education and held on August 27th every year on the birthday of Confucius. It's just that Teacher's Day on August 27th contains the meaning of respecting Confucius, so it was boycotted.
1985, the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) decided to take September 10 every year as the legal teacher's day, so as to promote the formation of a good social fashion of respecting teachers and attaching importance to education throughout the country and improve the cultural quality of the whole Chinese nation.
Modern Teacher's Day originated in Portugal.
Respecting teachers and teaching, knowledge and talents has become a common practice in many countries or regions in the world. Therefore, before the establishment of International Teachers' Day, many countries or regions set up their own Teachers' Day. Portugal is the first country in the world to establish Teacher's Day.
As early as May of 1890 and 18, the graduates of Iacomobu University in Portugal presented ribbons to their teachers to thank them for their education. The teachers signed the ribbons and returned them to the students as souvenirs. Later, the Portuguese government designated this day as Teacher's Day, and celebrated it every year, with a history of 123 years.
