I. Education system
Primary education is five years. French school education requires 6-year-old children to enter the first grade of primary school. Many parents send their children to maternelle as early as possible (about 3 years old), which is usually an affiliated school of the local primary school. Some people are even sent to day care centers when they are two years old. The last year of kindergarten (mostly) is an important step in the education process. In this year, students began to read.
After children leave kindergarten, they enter primary school. In the first year, they learn to write and improve their reading skills. Similar to other education systems, French pupils are usually taught many different subjects by one or two teachers, such as French, mathematics, natural science, history and geography (the latter two are rarely separated). In French, primary school teachers are called professeur des écoles (formerly known as instituteur or its feminine form institutrice).
Second, the characteristics of the French primary education system
1. Emphasize the cultivation of students' self-care ability.
The French attach great importance to the cultivation of children's self-care ability. In the street, we saw that when parents took their young children to walk, they never helped them or carried them, but let them walk independently, and even let them drag luggage out of proportion to their bodies. In the process of primary education, teachers also attach great importance to the cultivation of children's self-reliance ability. Children in France usually have lunch at school. Children have to solve their own food or life, and teachers will never interfere. Handicraft activities in the classroom are also done by children alone. Although it is not very good, it shows that the child has strong hands-on ability. On the contrary, many parents in our country always take care of their children in every way, unwilling to let them go, which leads to the loss of the best training opportunities for children, resulting in poor self-care ability and weak hands-on ability of many students, which is not conducive to their future growth.
2. Highlight the humanistic education thought.
French primary education attaches importance to people-oriented. In school, the teaching materials are selected by teachers, the classroom teaching time is controlled by teachers, and the classroom teaching content is decided by teachers. Teachers make classroom teaching content according to students' actual situation, generally a class lasts for 20 minutes. There are no more than 25 students in a class, and teachers teach in different classes. The teaching content is relatively simple, the students' enthusiasm is high, and the teachers are very relaxed. They assign professionals to help students with poor academic performance after class. France attaches great importance to students' basic language skills and communicative competence. Primary schools generally offer bilingual or even trilingual courses, and students learn French, English and German from an early age. French primary schools also offer interest classes.
3. Pay attention to the atmosphere of school culture and education.
The economic conditions in France are superior, but compared with those in China, the teaching conditions in its schools are not very good. For example, its conference room is very simple, and the tables used by several students are put together to form a conference room. The conference room is simply furnished and there is no gorgeous statement at all. The computer classroom is also very simple, only a few computers are placed around the classroom; The music classroom is still the same, with a piano and chairs, and nothing else. The school library is as simple as the book corner in our class. At most, there are more than 300 books, which can be counted at a glance, but it is very practical and meets their educational reality and needs (although we have many computers and books, the utilization rate is not high). In addition, although the teaching facilities are simple, the classrooms are beautifully decorated and full of cultural atmosphere. There is heating in the classroom, and students' coats are neatly hung in a row. Students' works are arranged in the classroom, so that every child has a sense of success. Putting four or five desks together will help students communicate with each other, learn from each other and promote each other. This shows that France pays more attention to the atmosphere of youth culture and education.
Thirdly, the differences and contrast between French education system and China.
First, the comparison between Chinese and French primary schools
