Xining University is a science and engineering undergraduate school transformed from Kunlun College of Qinghai University. It is a full-time public institution of higher learning organized by Qinghai Provincial People's Government.

The school offers 20 majors, including economics, international economy and trade, biotechnology, mechanical design and manufacturing and its automation, metallurgical engineering, electrical engineering and its automation, automation and civil engineering.

The development of Xining University;

In 2002, Qinghai University submitted the Application Report of Qinghai University on the Establishment of a Secondary College to the Provincial Department of Education, and applied for the establishment of a secondary college.

In February 2003, the Provincial Department of Education issued the "Reply on the Construction of Secondary Colleges in Qinghai University". According to the relevant provisions of the document, in February 2003, Qinghai University and Western Mining Co., Ltd. negotiated to build a secondary college and signed a cooperation agreement.

In February, 2004, the Ministry of Education issued the Confirmation Notice on Independent Colleges in Colleges and Universities in Qinghai Province.

In March 2004, the Provincial Department of Education issued the Notice on Confirmation of Kunlun College of Qinghai University. Our college has become the only independent college in our province.

In July 2004, the college began to enroll students in the main campus of Qinghai University.

In September 2009, after the integration of undergraduate teaching resources, Qinghai University officially moved to the current campus, forming a two-campus school-running pattern.
