What's the difference between English major and translation major?
English majors mainly study the basic theories and knowledge of English language, literature, history, politics, economy, diplomacy, social culture and other aspects in English-speaking countries such as Britain and the United States. They have received good English listening, speaking, reading, writing and translation training, mastered certain scientific research methods, and have the professional level and good quality and ability in translation, research, teaching and management. Translation majors train applied talents who have a solid language foundation, extensive cultural knowledge and proficient oral and translation skills, and can be competent for translation work in foreign affairs, business, science and technology, culture, education and other fields. The emphasis of the two is different. English majors focus on the study of English-related linguistics and need to learn a lot of theoretical knowledge. Translation majors pay attention to application, and not only English translation, but also other languages.
