Comprehensive analysis of French education model: an overview of French higher education system
According to this country's education policy, students begin with high school graduation (BAC), with three years of undergraduate, two years of master and three years of doctor. Therefore, the level of receiving higher education in France will be expressed by "high school diploma"+"time of receiving higher education". If someone says that his education is BAC+3, it means that he has a bachelor's degree; If it is BAC+5, it represents a master's degree. This is the basic principle of French higher education.
LMD stands for French License, Master and Doctor.
Undergraduate academic system
One thing you need to understand is that the three-year undergraduate study mentioned above does not mean three years of undergraduate study, but three years of undergraduate study with a bachelor's degree, and the other two years of undergraduate study, namely BAC+2, which is similar to the domestic college diploma (note that it is similar) and biased towards professional education. Compared with academic learning, BAC+2 pays more attention to practical learning.
Four categories of BAC+3 education system:
1) Bachelor's Diploma The bachelor's diploma of French institutions of higher learning is Licence. Once you have completed three years of college study (BAC+3), you can get a license diploma. Although Licence's courses are divided into theoretical courses and professional courses, diplomas are basically oriented to theoretical research and are not designed for employment after graduation. It is for this reason that most students will continue to study for a master's degree after obtaining a license.
2)Licence professional le, a professional bachelor's degree, also known as a professional bachelor's degree, can be seen from the name. The course of Licence professionnelle is developed by the close cooperation between schools and enterprises, emphasizing the combination of theory and practice, including theoretical courses and professional courses, which need three to four months' internship, with the aim of cultivating talents to meet the needs of the job market.
The professional setting of Licence professionnelle is mainly based on new technologies and services such as Internet and e-commerce. After graduation, students can generally start working in very professional departments or continue their studies, such as applying for engineering colleges. Compared with Licence, Licence professionnelle is really down-to-earth in the study of specialized courses.
4) Diploma in Architecture Dipl? Master of Architecture is a diploma in architecture, referred to as DEEA, with the equivalent degree of BAC+3. Its course is mainly to learn architectural culture and the corresponding basic knowledge. Most of the students who have obtained the DEEA diploma are engaged in research in the construction industry or related fields, so it is also a highly directional diploma.
(Note: BAC+3 (three-year) undergraduate course, and its European mutual recognition credit is 180ECTS)
Three degrees and diplomas of BAC+2 academic system:
& gt University Technical Diploma The official name of the University Technical Diploma is the Technical University Diploma, or DUT for short. The school that awarded DUT diploma is IUT Technical University. DUT courses are divided into general courses and professional courses, some of which are taught by professionals hired by enterprises. There is no final exam in the first year, and the advanced level mainly refers to the usual grades; Before graduation in the second year, students must participate in the internship of 10 to 16 weeks.
DUT diplomas are recognized by all economic organizations and institutions in the secondary and tertiary industries in France. Once they hold the DUT diploma, students can go directly to work in the business field or continue to receive higher education in related majors, or they can continue to apply for master's degrees in various comprehensive universities or enter the Grande Ecole (the elite education system in France).
Although DUT diploma pays attention to practicality, it cannot be regarded as a diploma similar to that of higher vocational or technical schools in China. DUT is a real college diploma. At the same time, there are special vocational and technical education in France. The DUT diploma is conceptually equivalent to BTS (the abbreviation of Brevet de Technicien Supérieur) and DEUST (the diploma of university science and technology, namely Dipl? The abbreviation of Me d 'etudes Universitaires Scientifiques et Techniques is equivalent to China's "junior college", which is generally a supplementary degree for a person who already has other degrees and works), DEUG and other diplomas. In addition, DUT diploma is more practical than DEUG diploma.
& gt Vocational Diploma in Art
The official name of the art vocational diploma is Dipl? Master of art, DMA for short. As the name implies, most of its majors are practical arts, such as graphic design, fabric, animation and so on. Another one? Others focus on cultivating high-end artists or craftsmen, such as sculptors and watchmakers.
& gtCPGE University is a preparatory course for universities. Obtaining this degree and diploma is an important prerequisite for entering the French elite university Grande Ecole, which will be explained later.
