The Institute of International Education is a professional college with the most international education characteristics among Sias International College of Zhengzhou University. Its characteristics are mainly manifested in the ten-year history of implementing Sino-foreign cooperative education projects and the curriculum setting that reflects the characteristics of undergraduate education level in China and the United States.

The Institute of International Education was formerly known as BGS Department (BGS is the abbreviation of BachelorofGeneralStudies, translated as "Bachelor's degree in general (basic) subjects"). The BGS degree program is a cooperative project between Zhengzhou University and Heisburg State University (FHSU) in Kansas, USA. In 2000, it was approved by Order No.38 of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee and implemented in Sias International College of Zhengzhou University.

In July 2007, the Ministry of Education approved the implementation of BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration), BachelorofScience (Bachelorofscience) and Bachelor of Science (BachelorofArts) at the Sias International College of Zhengzhou University.

In the construction of teaching staff, the Institute of International Education recruits and selects excellent teachers with high academic attainments and strong professional background from two universities to form a high-level teaching staff. FHSU's courses are taught all over the UK, and there are 100 professional face-to-face foreign teachers. Most domestic teachers have overseas study and training experience. The college is equipped with perfect teaching hardware facilities, which ensures the internationalization and advancement of education.
