Hohai University is not a 985 university, but a 2 1 1 university. Hohai University, founded in 19 15, is located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. It is directly under the Ministry of Education. The Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Water Resources, the State Oceanic Administration and the People's Government of Jiangsu Province jointly established a national key university. It is a national "world-class discipline construction university", a national "2 1 1 project" and a national key construction project. The school was selected as the national college students' cultural quality education base of "1/plan" and "excellent engineer education and training plan".

The predecessor of Hohai University can be traced back to Hohai Engineering College founded by 19 15. 1927 merged into the National Fourth Sun Yat-sen University, and was later renamed as National Central University and Nanjing University. From 65438 to 0952, the water conservancy departments of Nanjing University, Jiaotong University, Tongji University, Zhejiang University and East China Water Conservancy College merged to form East China Water Conservancy College. 198 1 year, the school became the first batch of doctoral and master's degree awarding units. 1985 East China Institute of Water Conservancy was renamed Hohai University to restore the traditional name of Hohai.
