The Historical Origin of Hancheng Yangko
Hancheng Yangko is a singing form integrating folk songs, rap and dance, which originated from China traditional opera and has begun to take shape in the embryonic form of China traditional opera.

There are three theories about the origin of Hancheng Yangko. One said that it originated from the court of the late Tang Dynasty, such as the expression in Yangko's "Colorful Building Matching", "The fifteenth day of the first month was a folk music, and Yangko was invented in the Tang Dynasty. The emperor played ugly and the official empress wrapped her head." This is a folk rumor, and there is no history to test. Another theory originated from New Year Miscellaneous Fu by Wu Xilin, a famous scholar in Qing Dynasty. Among them, it is said that Yangko evolved from Tianle Village in Song Dynasty. Yangge is a song for transplanting rice seedlings. Thirdly, it originated from Song and Yuan operas. Judging from the music development and performance procedures, Hancheng Yangko was obviously influenced by the Song and Yuan operas. During the performance, Hancheng Yangko sang without dancing and danced without singing. When percussion is accompanied, don't knock when singing, and don't sing when knocking. His vocal music belongs to the combination of Qupai, which is quite similar to the divertimento of "Zhu Gong Tune". Judging from the appellation of "Ugliness" and "Baotou", it also seems to come from the Song and Yuan zaju. It is not difficult to see that the shadow of the embryonic form of Zaju in Song and Yuan Dynasties can be found in Hancheng Yangko. Hancheng yangko reached its peak in 1875-1908 (Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty). 1876 (the second year of Guangxu), Hancheng yangko artist Han Minqing led a yangko team to Beijing and was recruited by Empress Dowager Cixi to perform in the palace. Since then, there has been a "yangko coach" in the palace to teach yangko. 1899 (in the 25th year of Guangxu), the Hancheng magistrate Ji held a Hancheng yangko performance in order to receive an imperial envoy from the Qing court, with an unprecedented gathering of actors. The performance began on the third day of March and lasted for ten days. 150 artists performed on the stage, showing the charming charm and exquisite art of Hancheng Yangko. These two performances have become two major events in the development history of Hancheng Yangko. detailed

Hancheng Yangko has absorbed a lot of nutrition from southern Yangko minor and Shaanxi Opera, Pu Opera, Hu Mei Opera and other operas, and more than 100 Yangko red artists have emerged.

In the 1940s, Hancheng yangko began to decline, and in the 1950s and 1960s, the performance of Hancheng yangko was even more rare.

After liberation, Hancheng Yangko was excavated and injected with new vitality by provincial, local and municipal literary and art workers, creating a number of new forms and new contents of Hancheng Yangko repertoire, which also made Hancheng Yangko a smash hit. Later, hancheng city Cultural and Sports Bureau and Cultural Center paid attention to the protection and development of Hancheng Yangko. Hancheng yangko repertoire and Hancheng yangko were published respectively, and the repertoire and music of Hancheng yangko were introduced, and the repertoire and music of Hancheng yangko were widely collected and sorted out. 1998 organized a special performance of Hancheng Yangko. Hancheng Yangko program has participated in various large-scale performances and competitions for many times, and all of them have received good response.
