Qiannan Prefecture, the full name of Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, is an autonomous prefecture under the jurisdiction of Guizhou Province. Located in the south-central part of Guizhou Province, it is adjacent to Qiandongnan Prefecture in the east, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the south, Anshun City and Qianxinan Prefecture in the west, and Guiyang City, the provincial capital, in the north. Located in the slope zone from Guizhou Plateau to Guangxi hills, it is high in the north and low in the south, and it is in the East Asian monsoon region. Quanzhou covers a total area of 26 197 square kilometers, and has jurisdiction over 2 county-level cities, 9 counties and 1 autonomous county.

Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture is located in the south of Guizhou Province, between east longitude10612'-10818' and north latitude 25 04'-27 29'. The longitude of the east-west span is 2 06', and the straight-line distance is 207.9 kilometers. The north-south latitude is 2 25', and the straight-line distance is 269.4 kilometers. The southernmost part of the state is away from the Tropic of Cancer (23 27' N)137'. Libo County in the south of the state is 390 kilometers away from the coast (Fangchenggang, Guangxi), which is the closest place to the coast in Guizhou Province.
The state borders Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture in the east, Hechi City and Baise District of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the south and southwest, Anshun City and Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in the southwest, Zunyi City and Guiyang City in the north and northwest. The total area of Quanzhou is 26 197 square kilometers, accounting for 15% of the total area of Guizhou province.
