What aims to explore the causes of children or phenomena with certain characteristics?
The reason investigation in educational investigation aims to explore the reasons for the formation of children or phenomena with certain characteristics.

Types of educational investigation and research:

According to the nature of the research topic, education investigation can be divided into: current situation investigation, related investigation, cause investigation and follow-up investigation.

1. Investigation on the current situation: It aims to understand some characteristics of children's development in reality or some problems or phenomena in education and teaching. Through the investigation of the present situation, we can grasp the actual state of the research object, exert educational influence in a targeted way, and find out the practical problems, so as to provide the basis for improving pedagogy and promoting children's development in the future.

2. Relevant investigation: The purpose is to explore the nature and degree of correlation between two variables, such as "research on the relationship between children's self-care ability and behavior habits", "research on the relationship between children's reading and writing ability and reading comprehension ability in large classes", "research on the relationship between children's intelligence level and memory level" and "research on the relationship between punishment and children's aggressive behavior".

Correlation investigation should first obtain the data of two variables, then calculate their correlation coefficients, and then judge the relationship between the two variables according to the values of the correlation coefficients.

3. Cause investigation: The purpose is to explore the causes of children with certain characteristics or phenomena, such as "Investigation on the causes of children's communication ability", "Investigation on the personality characteristics of only children and non-only children" and "Investigation on the family situation of ADHD children".

Cause investigation can list the possible factors related to the research content, and then verify and screen it. You can also investigate two groups of different objects, sort out and compare the survey data in groups, and find out the different reasons. But the survey results alone are not enough to explain the causal relationship. To confirm causality, other research methods need to cooperate and prove each other.

4. Follow-up survey: The purpose is to explore the development and changes of some characteristics of children over time, such as "survey on the critical period of children's oral and written language development" and "survey on the development of children's social communication ability". Follow-up investigation is to observe the same characteristics of the same group of subjects repeatedly with the same standard, and then analyze their development level and trend, and the research period is long.
