The School of Foreign Languages of Hebei Normal University was formerly the English Department of Beijing Shuntianfu School, beginning with 1902. The New Foreign Languages Institute was established in 1998 1 1, and merged with the Foreign Languages Department of the University in July 2007. There are English Department, Russian Department, Japanese Department, Translation Department, Business English Department, Spanish Department and College Foreign Language Teaching Department. At the undergraduate level, there are eight major directions of English education, Russian, Japanese, Spanish, English interpretation, English translation, machine translation and business English, and there are second foreign language courses such as English, Japanese and French.
