What is an Ivy League school?
Ivy League schools refer to schools belonging to the Ivy League. There are eight Ivy League schools: Harvard University, University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, Princeton University, Columbia University, Dartmouth College, Brown University and Cornell University.

The Origin of Alliance Schools

The saying of Ivy League School comes from the 1950s. The above universities had social and sports competitions as early as the end of 19 th century, and 1956 brewed the idea of an alliance school.

The rules of the alliance school

When making rules for sports competitions, schools should further formulate rules for Ivy League schools, elect principals, sports directors and some administrative directors of alliance schools, and hold regular meetings to discuss issues of common concern among schools such as enrollment, finance, funding and administration.
