Xiamen University was founded in 192 1 by Mr. Chen Jiageng, a famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader. It is the first university founded by overseas Chinese in China's modern education history, one of the earliest universities in China to recruit graduate students, and the first university in China to build an independent campus overseas, and is known as the "strong country in the South". The school is directly under the Ministry of Education, directly under the central government, and has a deputy ministerial system. It is a comprehensive research-oriented national key university.

Jimei University is located in Xiamen, Fujian Province. It is a key construction university in Fujian Province jointly established by the Ministry of Transport and Fujian Province, the State Oceanic Administration and Fujian Province, and Fujian Province and Xiamen City. It is a "first-class discipline" construction university in Fujian Province, a doctoral degree awarding unit, a master's degree promotion exemption unit, a national "excellent engineer education and training plan" pilot university, and a national "excellent agricultural and forestry talent education and training plan" pilot university.
