There is a long history of planting pomegranate in Yicheng District, Zaozhuang City, Shandong Province. In the Western Han Dynasty, Prime Minister Kuang Heng introduced it from the Royal Shanglin Garden to Guan Dan Village in Yicheng District, his hometown for cultivation. Since 2008, Yicheng District has joined hands with shandong institute of pomology to introduce more than 60 pomegranate varieties and germplasm/kloc-0 at home and abroad, and built the largest pomegranate germplasm resource garden of more than 200 mu in China. The annual output value of pomegranate economy and related industries accounts for 19% of the GDP of the whole region.

In addition, it is to develop pomegranate tourism. Yicheng relies on rich pomegranate forest resources to vigorously develop the construction of pomegranate garden eco-tourism scenic spots.
