Originally named Idea Liuhe Quan, after inheritance and development, Xingyiquan system gradually formed. During the Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty, Xingyiquan began to spread in Shanxi, Henan, Hebei and other places, and gradually formed different schools.

The inheritance and development of Xingyiquan is closely related to the culture of Shanxi merchants. Shanxi merchants ruled the business circles for hundreds of years in Ming and Qing dynasties, and their business maps covered the whole country and even overseas. In order to protect themselves and expand their business, Shanxi merchants practiced martial arts one after another and hired martial arts experts to teach martial arts. Xingyiquan, as a martial arts school with actual combat value, naturally became the object of study for Shanxi merchants.
