He is currently the vice president of Wuxi Tea Culture Research Association, a visiting professor at Jiangnan University and a visiting professor at Wuxi Vocational and Technical College.
From 65438 to 0954, he studied pottery carving under the famous zisha pottery carving artist Ren Ganting (Shuo Shuo), received the basic training of China's painting and calligraphy, and entered the purple sand craft class of Shushan Ceramics Society (predecessor of Yixing Zisha Factory).
1955 Joined Shushan Ceramic Production Cooperative (predecessor of Zisha Factory).
1958 participated in the training of "China Folk Sculpture Research Class" jointly organized by the Ministry of Light Industry and the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts. After that, he transferred to the studio of "Clay Fighter Zhang of Central Academy of Arts and Crafts" to study, and 1959 returned to Zisha Factory.
In his early years as an apprentice, Mr. Xu Xiutang may have used "Yun Sheng", "You Sheng" and "Shi Sheng" (because Ren Lao used the pen names of Xi Shi and You Shuo, and Xu Xiutang was Lao Dai's first apprentice after the founding of the People's Republic, so he called himself "Yun Sheng", "You Sheng" and "Shi Sheng"). The brushwork is consistent with other works of Master Xu Xiutang.
