Generally speaking, chalk characters require "horizontal before vertical" and tend to "hide the pen" (press the pen). Write steadily and evenly, so that the lines are strong and smooth.
When writing a turning stroke, use a pen at the turning point. When writing an arc-shaped stroke, the hand should twist the chalk with the bending of the stroke. Don't use a pen to make the lines form a folding belt at will, which will cause the lines to be weak and feel powerless. Generally, it is necessary to "return the pen", hook, skim, lift and hang the needle, etc., but to keep the internal force unchanged, the force should be sent to the head.
In the process of writing, not every stroke is clearly explained according to the above requirements, especially the strokes that are in a secondary position. Those that should be hidden can be treated as missing strokes. Because chalk writing should have a proper speed, the effect of pen hiding is not obvious, so "meaning" is enough, but whether writing strokes in the main position or strokes in the secondary position, the pen should be in place.
Chalk characters are square characters, but the founder of the characters is not absolute, but the overall feeling. Most of the words are just the beginning or end of the strokes at the edge of the box (a few are slightly beyond), and the rest are within the box. In the process of practice, we should first form the understanding that "the word is square", and then pay attention to properly express the feeling of the whole word: the strokes on the side and across the side are in good position, and the strokes not on the side are written in place.
Chalk words are divided into single words and combined words. The words of combination structure are divided into up-and-down combination, up-and-down combination, left-and-right combination, left-and-right combination, up-and-down combination, internal-external combination and staggered combination. It is very important to practice chalk characters, analyze the proportion of each part of the combination structure and accurately locate the strokes of each character.
