1995, the birth of the first batch of highly educated model graduates in China ended the situation of relying solely on commercial speculation to determine the model grade. These students should not only learn vocational skills, participate in physical exercise, but also learn English, computer, music and dance, which is helpful to improve the comprehensive quality of young models and enhance their plasticity.
Internal training of model companies refers to the integration of model training and model brokerage in many model companies. These companies can not only find new people in training, but also carry out targeted training, packaging and promotion after finding new people with market value.
Model company internal training is divided into two forms:
1. There is a special training center to train people who are interested in developing the modeling industry. For example, the weekend and summer short-term training courses of Shanghai Yifei Model Training Center try to find new people while meeting the professional training needs of young dream catchers. However, different model training centers have different enrollment specifications and training quality. Some thresholds are very low, from children to the elderly, scams are easy to appear in such institutions; Other standards are high and strict. For example, Shanghai Yifei, Beijing New Silk Road and other model training centers recruit new people with good figure, appearance and temperament, so their students are few.
2. Training of its contracted models. At present, large domestic model companies have gradually embarked on the road of regular army. For example, 50%-60% of the models of Yifei Model Agency have graduated from regular classes and received professional training before signing the contract. Newcomers who have not received professional training before but have potential will also get targeted training opportunities after signing the contract. Another form is to exercise in business, such as receiving emergency training when there is business, and being told how to meet the business needs of specific customers in the physical training hall and on the way to the interview. Models are not usually in the company, but only when they have business. This kind of loose management is easy to cause the problem of being poached to some extent.
As two inseparable links in the model industry chain, the model training school and the model agency are closely related in training function. The school often recommends excellent students to the brokerage company to participate in the customer interview of the company model, and the company also explores new people from the excellent students during the interview process. Some model agencies even sign agreements with outstanding students for the development of the company after graduation.
In practice, the domestic training work has gradually defined the assessment standards, strived to improve the training assessment system, and defined three professional levels of the fashion model industry. However, at present, there is no special rating agency in China, and the relevant supporting institutions are also relatively backward. Domestic models can only obtain model qualification certificates in professional appraisal centers in various provinces and cities, not grade assessment certificates. The school mainly does not take the national professional standards as the training standards, because "this special industry eats youth meals". Models have a short career, and they prefer to spend their time and energy on competitions, advertisements and catwalks. Sometimes it is convenient to apply for a work visa abroad, but it is often not continued after the preliminary examination. "The intermediate level needs four levels, and anyone who meets the advanced professional standards can be a program director!" The requirements for intermediate and advanced models are not difficult for most models now, but there is no difference between the primary model assessment certificate and type certificate. Most importantly, the nature of the modeling industry, a market-oriented industry, determines that having market value is the first criterion to measure models. When interviewing models, brokerage companies and clients only choose models according to their own reading experience and work experience, not how many champions and certificates the models have won. Moreover, the modeling industry is different from other types of work, and their skills change with the changes in the market. Works of art cannot be measured by strict standards. Of course, English grade qualification is required. However, under the guidance of the current thinking that "the customer has the final say, the market has the final say, the certificate does not necessarily represent the work, the certificate does not represent the professional level of the model, and the certificate cannot be linked with the interests of the model industry", the grade assessment work has not been implemented after all, and even some model companies simply do not know the existence of the national professional standards for fashion models in 2002.
