PTE target score: four 65
Final grade: 72(L73/R68/S7 1/W72)
Three years ago, I took the IELTS test of 6.5 because I wanted to go abroad for postgraduate study. Later, I had to take four 7s for various reasons and transferred to PTE. After four exams, I made no progress (about 54 points in spoken English), and I got to know Fan Fei before my mind was about to explode. Finally, I attended 65,438+00 classes and scored 765,438+0 in oral English, which achieved my goal. This time, I want to share my experience in preparing for oral English, hoping to help you.
Liam has always been a student with his own ideas. He will take the initiative to ask questions and communicate with me in class. After fully mastering the content of the class, he can combine his skills with his own practice and digest it into a set of implementation plans that are most suitable for him. It's really great.
Secondly, Liam's time management ability is also excellent. He needs to take into account the school's studies in the preparation process, be able to quickly adjust his mentality, make plans, and complete them step by step under high pressure. From the completion of homework after class to the practice of punching cards on weekdays, Liam has always been meticulous and responsible.
Heaven rewards diligence, and his efforts will not be disappointed. Congratulations to Liam again and wish him all the best in the future!
Let's talk about how I decided to take the PTE first:
About three years ago, I was admitted to IELTS 6.5 because I was going abroad to study for a master's degree. In fact, I knew there was a PTE test before, but I didn't know much about PTE because most people chose to take IELTS at that time. Up to now, due to career development, immigration, study and other reasons, it is necessary to take a test of four points and seven points. Moreover, I know that I can get a maximum of 6.5 in IELTS writing before, and most people's experience is that it is difficult to get a score of 7 in IELTS writing, so I started to contact pte in February1and 65438+February.
At the beginning, I also knew that PTE needed strong test-taking skills, and I was the kind of person who was not good at exams, or was not an exam-type person, so I thought I should sign up for a training class to learn test-taking skills. I didn't think too much at that time. I enrolled in a training institution in Australia for about two months, during which I took four exams (not model exams, but four real money exams), but I got a maximum of 54 points in each oral exam, which was far from the target score of 65 points, and my oral performance directly affected my listening.
I would like to add here that in the previous IELTS test, I was most worried about listening rather than writing, so I paid special attention to listening in the four tests in the first two months, and deliberately recited SST and WFD (but in fact, the problem is not these questions that need to be recited, because I ask myself that I am not a lazy person myself), but because PTE's spoken English has made a great contribution to listening. In fact, if I have enough spoken English, I will not have listening.
Speaking of oral English, which has been tested for 4 times, it fluctuates around 54, and there is no breakthrough. To tell you the truth, I was really tired at that time, and I soon had the idea of giving up. Not to mention wasting money, the main reason is that I have to take care of other things. If I fail the exam all the time, it will be a waste of time and energy. And I mentioned above that I am not a good candidate, largely because I can't adjust my examination mentality well.
At that time, I didn't want to take any more exams, and I didn't want to review any more. However, a friend in Canberra just said that there may be something wrong with my learning methods, or the teachers in the institution I am studying in don't have enough experience to teach you these methods. She suggested that I find an institution with face-to-face teaching and examination equipment to practice. My friend is also studying PTE. From her mouth, I learned that PTE in Fan Fei also has an office in Canberra, and there are oral English teachers who can teach face to face. She recommended her to attend Karen's oral class, and then I felt that I could not attend Karen's one-on-one VIP oral class because I worked hard for more than two months anyway.
On Monday, I had a 10 oral class, which covered all kinds of oral questions and gave me a new understanding of oral English and exam-taking skills. Finally, combined with the examination equipment of Canberra campus, several model examination exercises were carried out, and finally the results had a qualitative leap. Below I will make a summary of various oral English questions and my own experience.
Sun god
As we all know, RA is the most important part of PTE spoken language. He who has spoken English wins the world, and he who has RA wins PTE.
Since Karen's first class, I have been practicing according to the teacher's method and the 20-day RA homework arrangement designed by Fan Fei. First of all, from the skills taught by the teacher, I have felt suddenly enlightened. Before RA meets new words, I always try to spell in the pre-reading time, but I usually get stuck in formal reading, which seriously affects my fluency, and because new words affect my mentality, it will only make me more nervous when reading. Moreover, after the teacher taught me that I can use something instead of words I don't know, I feel that my confidence in RA has greatly increased.
For my pronunciation and intonation influenced by my mother tongue, the teacher also hit home and gave me targeted advice, which broke my previous understanding of Italian pronunciation and intonation.
Finally, I would like to talk about the RA homework training designed by Fan Fei, which is completely different from my homework in an institution two months ago. Fan Fei's homework is very systematic, which takes us to practice from words, phrases, meaning groups, sentences and so on step by step, which greatly improves my pronunciation and fluency.
The most important thing for RA is to be calm during the exam and not to be anxious when reading RA. I was particularly nervous during the previous exam, but the faster I read, the worse my pronunciation and fluency. Later, I tried to relax myself, slow down my speech and read every word clearly. Naturally, my RA score will not be low.
Standard English
Before attending the course in Fan Fei, to be honest, I had little feeling about RS and didn't know how to review it. The previous organization didn't teach me how to learn RS, but told me that I was familiar with the high-frequency question bank. Essentially, I have no direction for RS. The previous four exams were all based on feeling, which had a great influence on listening performance, and RS was also the most difficult in my oral English.
However, after attending the teacher's class, I also know that words that I can't hear can be replaced by something to ensure fluency, and then I will repeat them with desire instead of stiffly.
Then, after usual practice and self-examination after practice, I found and summarized the problems and felt a lot about RS. Finally, after the exam, I almost matured the RS predicted by Fan Fei in that month, and the listening score in the exam was 73 (originally 59). I think it's incredible. I think RS has contributed a lot.
DI/RL
Think too much before doing DI, which affects fluency. However, after using the anti-interference sentence taught by the teacher, my confidence in DI has increased a lot. After I am almost familiar with the template, I will take one or two pictures when I have time to talk about it, so that I can change constantly in the exam and take my time.
Similarly, it is not difficult for RL to find a suitable template and listen to some useful information points.
ASQ
ASQ looked puzzled in front of me. Later, I took a teacher's class and learned that ASQ can also try words. Then I brushed the question bank myself and felt much better. Although I may not hear the questions clearly or know the correct answers in the formal exam, I saw another method taught by Fan Fei students before the exam. Without knowing the answer, I can try a few more answers to the words in the question or the answers I think have a chance. I did the same thing during the exam, and it felt like a good way.
In fact, before I got four sevens in the formal exam, I made a formal model exam of ABCD's oral English. After every exam, I will give Karen the recording screen to analyze and point out my problems. The last oral test was 70, and the formal test was 7 1. We can't ignore the importance of the model test. Of course, if possible, we should use the test headphones provided by Fan Fei.
Finally, I want to say that mentality is really, really important. You must believe in yourself and the skills taught by your teacher. Stick to it and you will definitely reach the target score.
I hope my experience will be helpful to everyone and get the ideal result as soon as possible!
