Bulgarian belongs to the East Yugoslavia subfamily of Slavic Yugoslavia branch of Indo-European language family, and can communicate with Macedonian. It is the official language of Bulgaria.
Users are mainly concentrated in the Balkans, in Bulgaria and its surrounding areas, including parts of Greece, Romania, Hungary, Moldavia and Ukraine, and descendants of Western Europe, the United States, Canada and Australia. The number of users is about10 million, of which1.5 ~ 2 million are second language users. Among Slavic languages, Bulgarian has the oldest literature.
Dialect:
Bulgarian has two dialects, East and West. Western dialects can be divided into northwest and southwest sub-dialects, while eastern dialects can be divided into north, middle and south sub-dialects.
The standard language of Bulgarian is based on the central sub-dialect in the east (Balkan sub-dialect). The standard language * * * has 44 phonemes, including 6 vowels and 38 consonants.
Bulgarian is very similar to Macedonian, but it is completely different from other Slavic languages. It almost completely disappears the changes of noun "case" and adjective case, and the article is also produced by using some grammatical components of Balkan language belonging to other language families.
Macedonian is the official language of Macedonia. However, many scholars in Bulgaria regard the language spoken by Macedonians as a dialect of Bulgarian and refuse to recognize it as an independent language.
