Jiaxing Science and Technology City has six functions: applying R&D and transforming high-tech achievements, starting and incubating high-tech industries, demonstrating high-tech industries and cultivating knowledge industries, education and training, technology transfer, new modern residential houses and new ecological and civilized cities. According to the principle of "high starting point planning, high-grade construction and high-level gathering", Jiaxing Science and Technology City has a planned area of 3.65 square kilometers, focusing on scientific research and development, scientific incubation, industrial demonstration, education and training, scientific business and life service, aiming to become the core highland with the most concentrated science, technology, information and talents in the region. The second phase of the plan extends to 10.66 square kilometers, and around the incubation of scientific and technological enterprises, the industrialization of high and new technologies and education and training, the transformation base of scientific and technological achievements and the industrial demonstration base are arranged.

The first phase of the core functional area has gradually formed a "dual-core and six-park" pattern with Tsinghua and Chinese Academy of Sciences as the leaders, and software parks, communication parks, chip parks, materials parks, biological parks and incubators developing vigorously. It has successively settled in 100 institutions, introduced more than 250 doctors and masters, and nearly 100 returned overseas students. The total income of its own technology, industry and trade increased from 26 million yuan in 2006 to 654.38+07 billion yuan in 2008, an increase of more than 60 times in two years.

According to the long-term plan of "taking shape in early five years, taking shape in early eight years, and becoming a city in ten years", by 20 15, Nanhu District of Jiaxing City, with Jiaxing Science and Technology City as the core, plans to achieve an output value of 80 billion yuan, which will drive the output value of related industries in the province to more than 200 billion yuan, and truly become the main platform and core area for Jiaxing to build a sub-center of provincial regional innovation system.
