The National Defence University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army is the highest military academy in China directly under the Central Military Commission. It is a key construction institution of the "2 1 10 Project" of the whole army, and a comprehensive joint command university of senior vocational education of the Chinese Army.

The National Defense University originated from the Red Army Training Team founded by Mao Zedong in Jinggangshan in 1927. It has experienced the Red Army University of Chinese Workers and Peasants, the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University in the war years and the advanced military academy and military and political university after the founding of the People's Republic of China. 1985, the Military Academy, the Political Academy and the Logistics Academy merged to form the National Defense University.

2065438+July 2007, according to the order of the Central Military Commission, a new National Defense University was adjusted and established on the basis of some professional training tasks of the former National Defense University, Nanjing Political College, Xi Political College, Art College, Logistics College, Shijiazhuang Army Command College, Armed Police Political College and Equipment College and related institutions. On 201July 19, President Xi Jinping awarded the military flag and gave a training speech at the National Defense University.
