Master Jing Yan was born in tanghe county, Henan Province in 189 1 and died in 199 1 at the age of 100. The common name of the mage is Chen Shengshan. His parents are Buddhists, and he admired Buddhism since he was a child. He became a monk in Lingyan Temple in Suzhou. His dharma name is well known in the west and his name is strict. He was ordained at Tiantong Temple in Ningbo. He once joined Beijing Daoshe and Han Deqing, a scholar with the same law, and organized three societies. I often listen to Master Yuan Ying's explanation, and Master Tai Xu's explanation of Buddhism is deeply appreciated. During my two years in Wuhan Buddhist College, I have a profound understanding of the classics such as "One Theory of Success", "Take the Mahayana Theory" and "A Hundred Schools of Thought contend". After the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC), he served as the first, second and third directors of Chinese Buddhist Association, the fourth executive director and the president of Henan Buddhist Association. He organized Buddhist societies in Zhengzhou and Xuchang, and held training courses for Zhong Ni in Kaifeng. Shi Jingyan, a layman surnamed Chen, was born in the 18th year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1892).
