I recommend you to play from Shanghai to Nanjing. The general route is as follows:
First of all, the nearest ones are Zhouzhuang, Huqiu, Hanshan Temple, Lingering Garden and Humble Administrator's Garden in Suzhou. Changzhou dinosaur park, Tianmu lake, Nanshan bamboo sea. Jichang Garden, Lihu Central Park and Mashan Giant Buddha in Wuxi. Zhenjiang is rare, just Jinshan Temple (not very good). Nanjing Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, Pearl Spring, Qixia Mountain, Yuhuatai, Ming Mausoleum and Confucius Temple. These places are quite famous and really worth visiting.
You can go all the way from Shanghai-Suzhou-Changzhou-Wuxi-Nanjing. Four days is also a bit tight, so you can choose your own scenic spots in these four places. Everything is fine.
The key is not to look at everything like a tour group. And don't worry about not getting tickets, they are all bullet trains. It takes 38 minutes from Shanghai to Suzhou (but 12 minutes from Zhouzhuang to Kunshan), more than 20 minutes from Suzhou to Wuxi, 30 minutes from Wuxi to Changzhou, and about 1 hour from Changzhou to Nanjing. Fast and convenient. There are many trains and buses, so there will be no shortage of tickets.
