1. Passport and visa information are consistent.

Studying in Germany, international students will need to be authenticated. After confirming the validity of passports and visas, German customs will ask or check the articles carried by international students.

China citizens who want to obtain German entry qualifications must first prepare the following materials:

(1) Legal and valid passports and visas and round-trip air tickets.

(2) An invitation letter that can prove the purpose of the entry applicant to enter Germany or an admission notice from a German school.

(3) Documents that can prove the address and contact information of the entry applicant during his stay in Germany, and the address and telephone number of the contact person of the entry applicant in Germany also need to be recorded.

2, forbidden items

The German government attaches great importance to aviation safety. International students are not allowed to carry any weapons, including knives, guns or other sharp weapons on the plane. If international students carry these items for any reason, they should also check them together in large luggage before boarding, otherwise they may be detained by German customs.

3. Luggage carrying regulations

German Customs stipulates that passengers from non-EU countries can only carry personal daily necessities with a value of no more than 58.8 euros when entering the country, otherwise they will be taxed. However, this rule is difficult to implement, because German customs can't determine the value of each item, and at this point, international students can flexibly master their luggage contents.

The German government also has different tax exemption regulations for special products such as cigarettes and alcohol:

Currency: International students can bring any amount of RMB, USD or other currencies and gold into Germany without declaration, and these currencies can be freely exchanged in Germany without restrictions.

Cigarettes: The quantity of tobacco that German inbound passengers can carry is 200 cigarettes or 100 cigars, 250 grams of tobacco or 50 cigars.

Liquor: The weight of alcoholic products that German inbound passengers can carry is 1 liter of liquor with temperature above 22 degrees or 2 liters of liquor with temperature below 22 degrees, 2 liters of drinks with toasts and 2 liters of ordinary wine.

Coffee and tea: The weight of coffee and tea products that German inbound passengers can carry is 500g coffee powder or 200g espresso, 100g tea or 40g espresso.

Other products: Other products that German inbound passengers can carry weigh 50 grams of perfume or 0.25 liters of toilet water.

4. Tariffs

If the above limit is exceeded, you need to declare and pay import tax.

Note that when calculating, the tax will not be calculated according to the value you exceed, but according to the total value of the goods. For example, if your computer is 500 Euros, the excess will not be calculated as 70 Euros, but based on 500 Euros. Calculation when exceeding the limit: you have the invoice at this time, otherwise the customs will evaluate it by itself! Customs has two calculation methods:

(1) If the total value does not exceed 700 euros, a total price will be given. The tax rate is 17.5%. The preferential tax rate is 15%, which is only applicable to customs preferential products purchased in developing countries. (Zollverguenstigung, Praeferenz, that's why things that are duty-free in China are sometimes taxed ...) In addition, the above provisions do not apply to beer. It should be levied according to the customs' own customs duties and tax laws.

(2) If the customs does not use the above method to calculate tax, it will calculate tax according to Tarif. Including customs duties, consumption tax and import business tax.

Tips: International students can only bring alcohol or tobacco into Germany if they are over 17 years old, otherwise it will be considered illegal. The age limit for bringing coffee is 15 years old.
