There are Kuixingge, Mingdetang, Lixiangge and other buildings in the temple. Confucius Temple is famous not because it is a Confucius Temple, nor because it is an official school, but because it is located in a splendid place in the Six Dynasties. Qinhuai River was called Huaishui in ancient times. According to legend, when Qin Shihuang cut through Zhongshan, which is today's Purple Mountain, it led to the Huaihe River and passed through the city, hence the name Qinhuai River. Qinhuai River is divided into Neijiang and Waijiang, and Neijiang is the most prosperous area of Shili Qinhuai.
At that time, the river was as clear as jasper, and bridges such as Wende, Lishe and Huaiqing spanned it, while there were many Song House galleries along the coast, in which all the romantic celebrities of past dynasties had set foot. Especially in the Ming dynasty, the imperial examination room was built along the river, and the candidates gathered, so the brothel came into being. In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, Dong Xiaowan, Li, Liu and other coquettish women did appear on Qinhuai River. It has become the material for literati to compose poems.
Extended data:
Nanjing Confucius Temple was built in Song Dynasty, located in the south of downtown Nanjing, close to Gong Yuan Street on the north bank of Qinhuai River. It is a bustling downtown area evolved from a cultural and educational center. What people usually call Confucius Temple actually includes the main buildings of Confucius Temple, Gong Xue and Gong Yuan.
Confucius Temple is one of the four largest Confucius temples in China. It is the hub of ancient Jiangnan culture in China and the gathering place of Jinling's history and humanities. It is not only the cultural and educational center of Nanjing in Ming and Qing Dynasties, but also the largest cultural and educational complex in southeast provinces and the largest traditional ancient market in China.
During the Six Dynasties, the Confucius Temple area in Nanjing was quite prosperous. Wuyi Lane, Zhuque Street, Taoyedu, etc. At that time, they were all places where aristocratic families lived. In the Ming Dynasty, Confucius Temple, as the imperial examination room in imperial academy, was crowded with candidates, so many service industries were concentrated here, including restaurants, teahouses, snacks, brothels and so on. On the Qinhuai River in the inland of China, "The sound of the oars is ringing for ten miles, and the singer plays the turbid waves" and "Painting boats and drums day and night" describe the abnormal prosperity on the Qinhuai River at that time.
Since 1984, the National Tourism Administration and the Nanjing Municipal People's Government have repaired, updated and rebuilt the Qinhuai scenic belt, and restored the style of Jiangnan market shops in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. Qinhuai River has once again become a famous tourist attraction in China.
