Guangdong Vocational College of Water Conservancy and Electric Power is a public full-time college approved by the Ministry of Education. It belongs to the Guangdong Provincial Water Resources Department and is guided by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education in business. In 20 13, it was recognized as a "provincial model higher vocational college" by Guangdong Province. In 20 15, the college was awarded the fourth national civilized unit by the Central Civilization Committee.
By the end of 20 15, Guangdong Vocational College of Water Conservancy and Electric Power had occupied an area of about 1 100 mu, with a total construction area of 340,000 square meters and a total library collection of more than 650,000 books. There are 740 in-service teachers in the college, including 539 full-time teachers, 2 13 teachers with senior titles and 356 teachers with doctoral and master's degrees. There are ten departments and three teaching departments, and 44 full-time higher vocational majors such as water conservancy and hydropower construction engineering, power plant equipment operation and maintenance.
The college has designated training institutions in the water conservancy industry of the Ministry of Water Resources, professional skill appraisal stations for special jobs in the water conservancy industry of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, and national computer information high-tech examination stations. It is one of the institutions that undertake the "Construction Skills Talents Training Project" implemented by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
It is also a "training base for high-skilled personnel" and a "safety technology training institution for special operators in Guangdong Province". In 2006, Guangdong Provincial Department of Labor and Social Security approved the establishment of "Vocational Skills Appraisal Institute". 20 14, the Education Department and the Water Resources Department approved the establishment of "Guangdong Water Conservancy Talents Education Base".
