First, if you want to become a monk, you must first decide whether to enter Quanzhen Road or Zhengyi Road. Simple understanding, if it is all the truth, then you should be able to endure loneliness, live in a temple for a long time, and wear Taoist robes every day; If it's the same, it's to learn Taoism at home and keep your mind of monasticism, but from the appearance, unless you wear Taoist robes on purpose, it's no different from ordinary people.

Second, in line with the requirements of Taoist temple, taking the unified regulations of Wudang Mountain Taoist Association as an example (Taoist temple rules are generally similar):

1, loves Taoism, is devout, voluntary, with the consent of relatives, has good facial features and is in good health.

2. The age is between 18-35 years old, and the educational background is in high school, technical secondary school or above. It is based on the proof (except those who have special skills and need to view temples): it is proved that there is no illegal and criminal act at or above the county level. Have an ID card, a copy of the household registration book and related procedures (some Taoist temples require family members' consent to become monks and require the seal and signature of the authorities above the town).

3. All absorbed Protestants, after passing the safety review, shall be reported to the president of the Taoist Association for decision. You must pass the exam of 1-2 years. During the assessment period, the association only provides accommodation, not remuneration and holidays. If you have any questions, send them outside the temple.

4. During the examination, Protestants studied the morning class, the evening class, the recitation of the Three Official Classics, the Ancestor Classics, the Big Dipper Classics, the use of instruments, the basic rules and knowledge of Taoism, the Daode Classics and the Taishang Tropism Classics. Learn and abide by the rules and regulations of the Taoist Association, including a set of Tai Ji Chuan and a set of swords.

5. At the expiration of the examination, Taoist priests can pass the cultural examination first, and all the examinations are qualified before they can become official Taoist priests and hold Taoist ceremonies.

6. During the examination for new believers, it is forbidden to learn from teachers, and offenders will end the examination and leave the temple.

7. Those who used to live in Wudang Mountain and asked to go back to the mountain performed well and made no mistakes. After being approved by the Taoist Association, it will be implemented according to Protestant standards.

8. Taoist friends from other places should be approved by the Taoist Association and handled according to Protestant standards (except for special skills).

In addition, you have to go through a period of inspection and observation to see if your patience and determination are real monks.
