The middle school affiliated to China Conservatory of Music grew up in Gongwangfu, which is rich in traditional heritage and culture, and infiltrated into the rich humanistic fertile soil of the capital Beijing. In the course of more than 40 years, we have always adhered to the historical responsibility of inheriting and developing national music entrusted by Premier Zhou Enlai, developed professional basic education under the national music education system gradually established by China Conservatory of Music, trained national music talents, persisted in tradition and made great efforts to innovate, and formed unique national music through practical exploration and theoretical innovation.

Our school is the only school in Beijing and even the whole country that is characterized by cultivating excellent secondary professionals in national music. It is our responsibility to carry forward national culture and develop national music as entrusted by the founding Prime Minister. With more than 40 years of school-running achievements, the school is known as the cradle of national musicians.

On the basis of traditional folk music, with rich multiculturalism as the teaching content, we insist on opening up schools. Through the exchange of different cultures and education at home and abroad, the field collection and research of national folk music, teachers and students are widely engaged in different levels and forms of social art practice, constantly enriching the connotation of our school-running characteristics, and maintaining the openness, innovation and times of our national music basic education.
