On-the-job postgraduate education in Sichuan Normal University has developed into a teaching and research university with equal emphasis on arts, science, engineering and management and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. Five national top-quality courses and national bilingual teaching demonstration courses, 20 provincial characteristic courses, 59 provincial top-quality courses, 17 provincial key construction courses, 1 national experimental teaching demonstration centers and 3 provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers have undertaken the pilot project of Sichuan's education system reform, which has a history of 1 year.

Sichuan Normal University is a full-time comprehensive provincial key university in Sichuan Province, and it is the earliest and longest-running normal undergraduate professional college in Sichuan Province. Sichuan Normal University is one of the foreign exchange centers of colleges and universities in Sichuan Province. It is also an institution of higher learning approved by the Ministry of Education with the qualification of recruiting overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students and accepting students recommended by Macao.
