Which of the two textbooks, New College German and Intensive New German, is more suitable for self-learners?
The newly compiled College German is specially designed for people whose second foreign language is German. The difficulty is moderate, the grammar is slow, and the amount of texts is not very large. It is more appropriate to learn slowly by yourself.

The new intensive textbook is the textbook of Liu De Training Department of Tongji University. This kind of teaching material focuses on training in the shortest time, so it is very difficult and intensive. I have learned two volumes and six texts in one unit (including listening to fill in the blanks) in my junior year. The glossary is compiled in a separate booklet. Basic grammar is covered by two volumes, and there are exercises, which are suitable for short-term surprise study.

For example, the second volume of New Refinement (the first semester) teaches passive state, while the newly compiled College German is the ninth lesson (or 10) of the third volume (the second semester of sophomore year), with fast grammar.
