Beijing Dance Academy is a full-time ordinary institution of higher learning whose main task is to cultivate high-quality dance talents, study high-level dance theories and create works. Formerly known as Beijing Dance School, the school was founded in 1954, which is the first professional dance school in New China. 65438-0978 With the approval of the State Council, the Beijing Dance Academy was formally established, which is under the Ministry of Culture. It was handed over to Beijing Municipal People's Government in 2000. The school has the right to award bachelor's and master's degrees. It is the only professional dance education institution in China and the largest well-known dance institution with comprehensive professional settings in the world. It is known as "the cradle of dancers".
In recent years, the school has continuously deepened the reform of dance education and teaching. At present, there are China Classical Dance Department, China Folk Dance Department, Ballet Department, International Standard Dance Department, Music Department, Creative College (including Choreography Department, Modern Dance Department and Art Design Department), Humanities College (including Dance Department, Art Communication Department and Public Foundation Department), Education College, and graduate department, Ideological and Political Theory Teaching and Research Section, and so on. The school has nearly 600 teaching and administrative staff, nearly 2,400 full-time students (more than 65,438 undergraduates, nearly 200 graduate students and more than 800 students attached to the middle school), about 5,000 students with academic and non-academic education in the College of Continuing Education, more than 50,000 dance grading teachers are trained by dance grading institutions at home and abroad every year, and nearly 500,000 students take the dance grading examination.
Since its founding more than 60 years ago, the school has conscientiously implemented the Party's educational policy and literary and artistic policy, guided by the motto of "respecting Taoism and morality, harmony between heaven and earth, harmony between literature and dance, and having both ability and political integrity", taking "persisting in high-level cultural pursuit, high-quality personnel training and high-level universal education" as its work goal, taking it as its own responsibility to lead and promote the reform and development of dance education in China, persisting in training talents, and making every effort to complete talent training.
