Formerly known as the National Portrait Photography Research Association (founded in 1982), its final legal name was china portrait photography society in February, and its inaugural meeting was held in the same month. Sun Long, then Vice Minister of Commerce, was elected as the president, and Peng, the first editor-in-chief of People Photography, was elected as the secretary-general. 1in April, 1990, the second national congress of members was held in Shijiazhuang, Hebei province, and Lin Zepu and Qiao Shuhua were elected president and secretary-general respectively. 1In April, 1996, the third National Congress of Members was held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Huang, then a member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, served as president, and Ling Zhiwei served as legal representative and secretary-general. In June, 2000, the Fourth National Congress of Members was held in Lanzhou, Gansu, and Wang Minghong was elected as the president and secretary-general. On June 8, 2003, at the second general meeting of the fourth Council of china portrait photography society, 8 vice presidents, 360 directors and 9 standing directors were elected. The meeting adopted resolutions on the work report of the Council, and on the establishment of china portrait photography society Wedding Photography Professional Committee, china portrait photography society Digital Imaging Professional Committee and china portrait photography society Portrait Photography Academic Committee.
