Sandplay was introduced to China in1990s. After less than 20 years' development, sandplay has become one of the mainstream psychotherapy techniques in China. What is more gratifying is that many primary and secondary schools are equipped with sandplay tools, and sandplay, a psychotherapy technique, may become a method to cultivate the psychological development of teenagers.
However, we also see that the popularity of sandbox game knowledge has not kept up with the popularity of sandbox game tools, and many psychological counseling rooms in primary and secondary schools have not used sandbox game tools. Some psychological counselors who are using sandbox games do not know enough about the core content of sandbox games. It can be said that there is still a long way to go for the promotion and popularization of sandbox game technology.
How can I learn sand table games? I think, first of all, we should learn the basic theory of sandbox game and understand its source, treatment mechanism, operation method and application scope. The most important thing to learn sandbox game theory is to understand the viewpoint of its creator Calve. There are many courses that teach sandbox games now, but quite a few courses only talk about the teacher's own understanding of sandbox games, and don't make Calve's point clear. Secondly, if you want to master sandbox games, you must be familiar with Jungian analytical psychology. Calve herself is a Jungian analytical psychologist, and her sandbox game is also based on analytical psychology. Therefore, if you want to learn sandbox games more deeply, you must learn analytical psychology. Finally, sandbox games, like other psychological counseling techniques, can only be mastered through constant practice. The so-called exercise here, on the one hand, refers to the use of sand table games for psychological treatment of help seekers; On the other hand, we should constantly make our own sand table, and ask professional sand table game teachers to do analysis and supervision for ourselves. Only by combining theory with practice and then turning theory into our own knowledge system can we really master sandbox games.
It is based on the above understanding that when I design my sandbox game course, I will highlight the following characteristics: First, I will teach original sandbox games. Ancient Chinese scholars often take "speaking for saints" as their main task, that is to say, their main mission is to publicize the views of sages such as Confucius. For sand table games, I will first emphasize Calve's own thoughts, introduce Calve's experience, Calve's point of view, Calve's case and Calve's works. Secondly, the basic theory of Jung's analytical psychology is integrated into the teaching of sandbox games. The most important of them will be integrated into the principles, objectives, operation methods and dream interpretation of analytical psychology. Third, emphasize practice and operation. Whether my course is a two-day class or a one-year class, there will be practical links such as case analysis and sand table experience.
