Introduction to Changzhou: Changzhou is located in Taihu Lake basin, with rich economy, prosperous culture, developed education and rich humanities. It is an ancient city with a long history of Jiangnan culture. As early as 5,000 years ago in the Neolithic Age, the ancestors of Changzhou thrived here. Together with the ancestors of other areas in Taihu Lake Basin, they created splendid and self-contained Majiabang culture, Songze culture and Liangzhu culture, and made great efforts to create the splendid ancient culture of the Chinese nation. In the 2,500-year history after the enfeoffment of Yanling, Ji Zha, Changzhou, by virtue of its superior geographical position, has seized the opportunity of the economic and cultural center moving southward for many times, and has been continuously developed and sublimated with its own unique cultural heritage, making Changzhou's regional culture brilliant, unique and famous throughout the country, leading the trend and influencing future generations, forming a good absorption and pragmatic spirit with profound historical and cultural accumulation. It is this heavy and excellent traditional humanistic spirit that makes Changzhou regional culture rich in connotation, distinctive in personality and full of vitality. Lu You, a great poet in the Southern Song Dynasty, once praised Changzhou as "Confucianism, the highest in Southeast China". Gong Zizhen, a famous thinker, writer and poet in the Qing Dynasty, almost lamented that Changzhou was "the world's celebrities have tribes, and there is nothing in the southeast."

Bamboo carving: Bamboo carving includes round carving, general carving, leather carving and shallow carving. Leather carving, also known as Liu Qing bamboo carving, is the most difficult kind of bamboo carving. The carving method of "leaving green" is to leave a layer of green cloud carving patterns on the surface of bamboo. The author skillfully uses the efforts of leaving the whole, leaving less, leaving more and leaving less, so that the work presents a clear hierarchy, clear light and shade, and is more stereoscopic than shallow carving.

Liu Qing bamboo carving is one of the traditional crafts in Changzhou, which is rare in China arts and crafts gardens and enjoys a high reputation. 1983 and 1988, Liu Qing Bamboo Carving won the Hundred Flowers Award of Jiangsu Arts and Crafts twice.

Carving bamboo with bamboo leaves requires a lot of materials. It is best to carve bamboo with a knife from the twelfth lunar month of three to five years. Newly-selected Phyllostachys pubescens must undergo special technological treatment before it can be used for painting and calligraphy, to prevent moth-eaten and to facilitate collection. It is characterized by the traditional art of carving a very thin layer of green clouds on the surface of bamboo. On this bamboo cloud, the bamboo carving artist skillfully used the skills of leaving the whole, leaving more, leaving less, leaving less and leaving nothing, which made the works show a strong three-dimensional sense. Because bamboo skin is yellow and bamboo tendons are red, the color contrast between bamboo skin and bamboo tendons is great, and the color of bamboo tendons is gradually purple. The mountains and rivers carved by it are magnificent and far-reaching in artistic conception. Carve calligraphy, draw silver hooks with iron, and look at the works with a knife; Carve out the vivid ink interest and charm of the original ink, such as dry and wet shades, and even flying white lines; Carving flower and bird feathers seems to give people a sense of pleasure and a quiet, elegant, exquisite, elegant and quaint artistic enjoyment, which is treasured by many collectors at home and abroad.

According to legend, a long time ago, there was a village outside the east gate of Changzhou. Most villagers make a living by carving fan bones, birdcages and mahjong tiles from bamboo. Later, the village was called "Diaozhuang", which is now Diaozhuang Township, which can be regarded as the origin of Changzhou bamboo carving.

There are a large number of talents studying in Changzhou at present. Wang, a famous arts and crafts artist, introduced five bamboo carving artists in his bamboo carving works, four of whom were in Changzhou. Among the seven bamboo carving artists in China, Changzhou occupies four seats in the China Arts and Crafts Stars published by 1994. Among Changzhou bamboo engravers, Bai Shifeng, Xu, Xu and Fan Yaoqing are the representatives. 1After Bai Shifeng began to dabble in Youth Residency in the 1940s, he studied hard and kept innovating. Since the 1960s, he has successively created works with new themes, such as "Sister in law studies culture" and "Young eagles spread their wings", which were acquired by the state as a national gift. In the 1970s, Chairman Mao's poetry and calligraphy retained youth by traditional methods, which was praised by critics as "a model of bringing forth the old and bringing forth the new". His ancient bamboo shoot "Twelve Grandsons" is a great bamboo sculpture, which won the Hundred Flowers Award of Jiangsu Arts and Crafts and the Zijin Cup Award successively. Some of Bai's works have been exhibited in more than 20 countries and regions such as the United States, Britain, Japan and Canada. Xu and Xu's father and son dare to innovate and have a unique style. Their works are often used as national gifts or collected by arts and crafts museums. China Bamboo Carving+-Art 1978 published in Hong Kong called Xu an important representative sculptor of bamboo carving in the 20th century. 1993 CCTV broadcast the feature film "The First Family in China" reflecting Xu's artistic career. Li Yimang thinks that Fan Yaoqing, a farmer's bamboo engraver, is "a bamboo engraver with high attainments", and his works are "exquisite in description, colorful and elegant in style, no less than those of famous bamboo engravers in Ming and Qing Dynasties". At present, Changzhou has become a national bamboo carving center, with dozens of people engaged in bamboo carving.

At present, the main products of bamboo carving in Liu Qing are: craft desk screen, craft hanging screen, various shapes of craft pen holders, pen holders and so on.

"Random stitch embroidery" is a new embroidery art created by the combination of painting theory and embroidery theory, and it is a "needle embroidery" made by using special random stitch technique. Is to use needle and thread as a tool. Lines with different directions and colors overlap and stack to express the sense of volume, the spatial relationship between the front and rear objects and the color change. The remarkable feature of "random needle embroidery" is to get rid of the traditional operation method of "closely connecting its needles and arranging its lines", but to let the author express his thoughts and feelings freely without dogma, so random needle embroidery has its complicated technological requirements and becomes an extremely precious work of art.

The complexity and preciousness of random needle embroidery is "random", which is reasonable and regular. Chaos is to achieve overall unity and more vivid changes. Embroiderers should make use of the changes in line length, thickness, density and depth according to their own intentions. Use "emotion" to direct the needle, use "line" to express meaning and blend feelings. According to the changing law of light and color, the line beauty and three-dimensional texture of the works are reflected through rich and diverse needles and lines. So that all the chaos we see from the works is reasonable and regular, which makes people feel the vitality of generation in chaos and the feeling of movement in chaos. The needle and thread are so freely overlapping, so just right.

"Random needle embroidery" pays special attention to the color effect, which is much more layered than ordinary embroidery. Stack the color thicker and the color effect will come out. So embroidery looks like oil painting. But it's different from oil painting. Because the silk thread is shiny, the color changes of various lines in different directions on the embroidery surface are different under the light in different directions. When the light is strong or weak, the effect changes differently when viewed in the bright and dark, and when viewed from the front and side. When two colors are mixed together in oil painting, they become another hue, and the original two colors no longer exist. The color sense of the third tone can be obtained after the two color lines overlap on the embroidery surface, and the original two tones still exist. Therefore, it is more colorful and brighter than oil painting, forming a unique style of embroidery.

Comb, called comb, is one of the eight ancient hair accessories in China. As the saying goes, "Yangzhou rouge Suzhou flower is the first comb in Changzhou". Changzhou comb began in the Jin Dynasty (AD 265-420) and has a history of 1600 years. It used to be a palace treasure. Therefore, it has the reputation of "Palace comb is a famous grate", which is a traditional handicraft and a "Yanling specialty".

Changzhou comb was formed in Wei and Jin Dynasties with a history of 1500 years. "Changzhou Mansion" has the description that "bamboo shaves a grate, and there are more doors facing Beijing", and "Wen Heng wears a moon grate and lights" is one of the eight scenic spots in the western suburbs of Changzhou in Qing Dynasty, which shows that Changzhou combs are made grandly in history. Because Suzhou Weaving Bureau in Qing Dynasty came to customize a batch of high-grade combs to pay tribute to the imperial court every year, Changzhou comb is also known as "the famous comb in the palace", and the Changzhou ivory comb used by Li for combing the hair of the empress dowager still remains in the Forbidden City in Beijing. Changzhou comb is famous for its strict selection of materials, unique technology and excellent production. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, with the invention of raw lacquer gluing technology and the export of its products, its popularity spread far and wide overseas. 19 15 won the silver medal in San Francisco Peace Expo, and 1926 won the gold medal in Philadelphia International Expo.

After liberation, Changzhou comb production has embarked on the road of collectivization and semi-mechanization. While inheriting and carrying forward the traditional skills of "carving, tracing, engraving and ironing", we combine the characteristics of daily necessities, handicrafts and decorations to constantly bring forth the old and bring forth the new, making the comb a daily-use handicraft full of national traditional style and artistic charm. Among them, there are "longevity combs" which integrate art appreciation and health care functions, modeling appreciation combs such as "Four Beauties" and "Twelve Hairpins in a Red Chamber", tourist commemorative combs such as butterflies, dragons and phoenixes, facial makeup and national dolls, and various exquisite jade-like combs. It's really interesting. Hundreds of combs set each other off and thousands of grates have their own characteristics and are fascinating. In the American film "The Girl Walking with the Stars", the heroine used Changzhou combs as a chest ornament, and Indonesian President Su Jianuo also brought two Changzhou combs as souvenirs when he returned home. Domestic and foreign media are full of praise, and tourists from all walks of life are even more fond of it.

Over the past century, Changzhou comb has participated in many international and domestic exhibitions and won more than ten gold and silver awards. Such as 19 15 Panama International Peace Exhibition Silver Award, 1926 Philadelphia Expo Gold Award, 198 1 National Silver Award, 199 1 Second Beijing International Expo Gold Award, 2000. At present, the annual output of Changzhou combs reaches 6.5 million, accounting for 3/4 of the total national output, of which 70% are exported to 27 countries and regions such as the United States, Britain, France, Japan, Australia and Germany.

Jintan is one of the earliest areas in China where paper engraving was popularized. As early as the Sui and Tang Dynasties, paper carvings such as double happiness, door flowers, hall flowers, snuff, shoe flowers, flowers, birds, insects, fish and people's play were spread among the people and passed down from generation to generation, forming a paper carving tradition in Jintan.

In recent years, in order to inherit and carry forward the fine tradition, the Jintan Municipal Bureau of Culture has held many art training courses and established the Jintan Arts and Crafts Society, which mainly focuses on paper engraving, so that the ancient Jintan paper engraving has been reborn. The masterpiece "The Fairy's Birthday" has many characters, which is rare in the world. The modern paper prints represented by Zhou Yunhua and Yang are fresh and meaningful, and the representative works Wan and Oriental Song and Dance exude a strong flavor of the times.
