The Art Department of Yunyang Teachers College was founded in 1998. There are six majors in music education, music performance, art education, animation design and production, decorative art design and architectural design technology, with more than 900 full-time students. There are 53 faculty members and 35 full-time teachers in the Art Department, including 3 professors and chief engineers, 7 associate professors and senior engineers, 28 lecturers and 30 masters. More than 80% of teachers have the professional qualification of double-qualified teachers. In addition, 13 visiting professors were hired.

The art department has excellent art education environment and teaching and research facilities. The Art Building has a building area of 7,000 square meters and is equipped with a fully functional studio, design room, piano room and multimedia classroom. Well-equipped concert halls, dance halls and exhibition halls provide a good display platform for teachers and students. The school library has a collection of 650,000 books, 5,000 audio-visual materials (boxes), and subscribes to more than 0/000 kinds of professional journals, which provides convenient conditions for teachers and students to create and conduct scientific research. The Art Experiment Center has advanced digital design studio, computer-aided design studio, traditional Chinese painting studio, oil painting studio, printmaking studio, sculpture studio and digital piano room. The total value of teaching instruments and equipment reaches 5 million yuan, and the art department has established a website, a digital exhibition hall and nearly 30 practice bases.

The art department creates a good learning atmosphere by holding various forms of exhibitions, concerts and academic reports. Every year, more than 30 exhibitions and concerts of various forms are held, and three Chineydy Arts Festival and several individual student concerts are successfully held, and famous experts and scholars at home and abroad are invited to give lectures regularly.

The art department pays attention to the cultivation and improvement of students' professional ability, pays attention to the cultivation of students' innovative and entrepreneurial ability, and actively organizes students to participate in professional skills competitions at home and abroad. Some students have achieved good results in the National College Students Art Festival, the National College Students Advertising Art Competition, the Hubei Dance Competition, the Hubei College Students Art Festival, the Hubei College Students Art Exhibition, the China-Japan-Korea Digital Art Biennale, the China (Wuhan) International Architectural Decoration Design Competition, the China College Students' Annual Award for Environmental Art Design, and the One Show China. In the past three years, the art department has organized students to participate in various professional competitions and won more than 60 awards/kloc-0.
