Do piecework employees need time allowance when training?
Need. Article 13 of the Interim Provisions on Payment of Wages stipulates that if an employer arranges an employee who implements piece-rate wage to extend his working hours after completing the task of piece-rate quota, he shall pay wages not less than 150%, 200% and 300% of the piece-rate unit price of his statutory working hours in accordance with the above principles. Where the standard working hours system is adopted in the labor contract, if the standard working hours are exceeded (no more than 8 hours per day and no more than 44 hours per week on average), overtime pay shall be paid according to the above provisions. Therefore, the piece-rate employee training belongs to the non-piece-rate task arranged by the company alone, so the working hours subsidy is needed.
