The Institute of International Communication was established in June 1999, June 65438+1October 65438+June, and its predecessor was the Foreign Languages Department, one of the three departments of Beijing Broadcasting Institute. In 1950s and 1960s, there were dozens of majors in non-common languages such as English, Persian, Turkish and Portuguese, among which 7 languages were the first in China. 1982, which is the first undergraduate major in international journalism in China. The major began to recruit master students from 1986 and doctoral students from 1999.
At present, the college offers 29 undergraduate majors in non-common languages, including English (international news direction), broadcasting and hosting (English program hosting direction), drama, film and television literature (film and television drama translation direction), English (network English information editing direction), English majors and German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Nepalese and Bengali (now it is the training base of foreign language non-common undergraduate talents of the Ministry of Education); It has a doctoral program in international journalism and four master programs in international journalism, international relations, international communication and media, and women. At present, there are full-time students 1559, including undergraduates 12 12, 323 graduate students and 24 doctoral students.
The college has four departments: Department of International Exchange, Department of Foreign Languages, Department of English Language and Literature and Department of International Relations. Have a teaching and research team with excellent quality, reasonable structure and innovative spirit. There are 29 full-time teachers/kloc-0, 47 professors and associate professors, and 6 doctoral supervisors. Among the full-time teachers, 96 people study abroad for a long time or a short time. Every year, the College also employs more than 50 off-campus and foreign experts from China Radio International, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and some embassies in China.
Adhering to the school-running philosophy of "international vision, equal emphasis on theory and practice, and compound integration", the college adheres to the teaching and scientific research as the center, takes foreign language teaching as the foundation, crosses disciplines such as journalism, communication and international relations, and combines the laws and characteristics of foreign communication to cultivate compound international communication talents with outstanding foreign languages and leading majors.

In the past three years, nearly 500 students have completed their studies through the "3+ 1" model, which has played an active role in cultivating non-common language undergraduate talents and has been well received by students.

In recent years, our college has gradually established a teaching mode combining classroom teaching, academic activities and social practice. The design of practical teaching system is scientific and reasonable, the content of practical teaching is rich and complete, the application characteristics of undergraduate teaching are highlighted, and students are often organized to participate in various foreign language competitions and social surveys. Participate in academic exchange activities of foreign embassies; Organize simulated press conferences by spokespersons from time to time; Participate in volunteer activities in various languages; Organize students to go to the target country for short-term tourism study during the third year of college; Organize students to visit and study in mainstream national news media and major ministries and commissions. CCTV Overseas Center, China Radio International, China Daily, Ningbo Radio and Television Group and other units have established a patriotic education base in Nanhu, Jiaxing, which is an off-campus practice base for our long-term cooperation. In the translation practice base of Bayi Film Studio and China Film Group Translation Center, students translate scripts themselves and serve as directors and post-editors. The Lord of the Rings, King Arthur and Star Wars are all works translated by teachers and students in our college.

According to the needs of national publicity and international communication, our college follows the teaching law of cultivating compound talents, insists on strengthening characteristics with "compound" and promoting "compound" with characteristics, and gradually builds a compound teaching model that spans foreign languages, news, communication and international relations, and builds a solid platform for doing a good job in international communication education.
The college has four major directions, focusing on English learning, combining news, communication, film and television literature and network information, forming a unique compound teaching model. Non-lingua franca majors have established a training mode of "non-lingua franca+English" to cultivate multilingual talents who are proficient in both a non-lingua franca and English. Specifically, English is regarded as an important part of the cultivation of non-common language professionals. English has been continuous for four years in all languages, and the pass rate of TEM4 for non-common language majors is over 70%.
Over the years, our college has trained and delivered a large number of outstanding talents who are proficient in foreign languages and news communication. The employment rate of undergraduate graduates remains above 97%, and the overall employment level is relatively high. A large number of students are employed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Xinhua News Agency, CCTV, China Radio International, China Daily, Phoenix Satellite TV, Shanghai Satellite TV and other national ministries, national news organizations, large state-owned enterprises, international media, multinational companies and other units. They have made outstanding contributions in the media industry. Many of them have become business backbones, experts and scholars, and some have become well-known news program hosts at home and abroad.
