According to the Measures for the Administration of Health Administrative Licensing, if the licensee fails to apply for renewal in accordance with the provisions and applies after the expiration of the validity period of the license, the original license will be invalid when it is submitted to the teaching and general hospitals designated by the health administrative departments of the provincial people's governments. If the autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government have undergone clinical nursing training for three months and passed the examination, the health administrative department that made the license decision will cancel it and announce it.

According to Article 15 of the Measures for the Administration of Nurse Registration, if the registration is not renewed after the expiration of the registration period, the applicant shall re-apply for registration when he intends to practice in a medical institution. The application for registration of nurse qualification certificate shall be made within 3 years from the date of passing the nurse qualification examination.
