I. Architecture
Before 1990, the main buildings of Baima Temple were the mountain gate, the temple pavilion and the Yun Qi Tower. 1990, on the basis of the original building, the White Horse Temple added the Bell and Drum Tower, the Taifo Palace, the Woyu Buddha Hall, and the living room and meditation room in the Yun Qi Tower.
1, Buddhist temple
Located on the central axis from south to north, the main buildings such as Shanmen, Tianwang Hall, Giant Buddha Hall, Daxiong Hall, Jieyin Temple, Qingliangtai and Piluge are distributed from front to back. Among them, the Tianwang Hall is a single-eaved mountain-resting style, with five rooms wide from east to west and four rooms deep from north to south. There are Maitreya Buddha statues, four clay statues of the King of Ming Dynasty and General Wei Tuo in the temple. The Great Buddha Hall is a single-eaved mountain-resting type, with five rooms wide from east to west and four rooms deep from north to south. There is a Buddha statue, two Bodhisattvas Manjushri and Pu Xian, two disciples Ye Jia and Ananda, two patrons, Guanyin Bodhisattva and so on. Daxiong Hall is a hanging mountain, with five rooms wide from east to west and four rooms deep from north to south. There are 23 Yuan Dynasty Buddha statues, including Sakyamuni, Amitabha, the pharmacist "Buddha III", Wei Tuo and Wei Li, eighteen arhats, and the clay sculpture of Li Weitian River. Jieyin Temple, hard mountain style, with 3 rooms wide and 2 rooms deep, contains statues of Amitabha Buddha and Guanyin Bodhisattva. Pilu Pavilion is a double-eaves pavilion, located on the balcony, with five rooms wide from east to west and four rooms deep from north to south, including Pilu Buddha, Manjusri and Pu Xian.
2. Bell and Drum Tower
Located on the east and west sides of the north-south central axis in the mountain gate. Among them, the bell tower was built in June of 199 1 year with a donation of 4 million yen from Mr. Hiroyuki Nakamura and 600,000 yuan from Baima Temple. Drum Tower was completed on 1992. The bell and drum towers are all square turrets, 7 meters high, with double eaves and resting mountains, covered with gray tiles to draw their foreheads, and built on stone platforms. The completion of the Bell and Drum Tower has restored the ritual ceremony of the morning bell and the evening drum in the temple, and restored the "Masi Bell", one of the eight scenic spots in Luoyang with a long history.
3. Fabaoting and Sutra Pavilion
Located on the east and west sides of the balcony, it is located on the platform base with a length of 25.2 meters from east to west, a width of 22.5 meters from north to south and a height of 5 meters. Built in 1995.
4. Cool table
The pavilion has the same shape, and the double eaves rest on the mountain. Sitting facing south, it is 5 rooms wide and 4 rooms deep, with a length of18.5m and a width of12.95m.. It is a red lacquer jar with a forehead painted and covered with gray tiles. Among them, the Tibetan Sutra Pavilion is dedicated to the ancient Buddha of China presented to Baima Temple by the Buddhist circles in Thailand, and there are more than 10 kinds of Tibetan Scriptures in the collection, such as Long Tibetan Scriptures, Han Tibetan Scriptures, Japanese Tibetan Scriptures, Tibetan Tibetan Scriptures and Dunhuang Tibetan Scriptures. 1993 A bronze Buddha statue presented by Indian Prime Minister Rao during his visit to China was enshrined in the Magic Weapons Museum, which collected dozens of "magic weapons".
5. Buddhist temples in Thailand
Located outside the west wall of the Temple 100 meters, it was built in 1992 and completed in1April 995. The East-West Temple is built on a platform with a length of 27.3m, a width of 21.3m and a height of1.2m.. The hall is14.4m long from north to south, 7.5m wide from east to west and10m high. Its colonnade and walls are inlaid with marble, with triple eaves and glazed tiles at the top, which has a distinctive Thai architectural style. In this hall, there is a bronze Buddha presented by a Thai friend.
6. Woyu Buddhist Temple
Located on the east side of the Giant Buddha Hall, it was originally a Zhaitang, built in 1996. The main hall is a hard mountain building with five bays, with a length of 17.25m from north to south and a width of 5.4m from east to west. It was built on a stone abutment, and an inclined jade Buddha was enshrined in the hall.
7. Jade Buddha Hall
Located on the west side of the Great Buddha Hall, it was originally a meditation hall with five bays and a hard mountain building. The length from north to south is17.25m and the width from east to west is 5.4m.. It was built on a stone platform, and a jade Buddha was enshrined in the hall.
8. Liuzutang
Located in the south of the west side of the Giant Buddha Hall, it was originally an ancestral hall, with seven rooms in the west, 24.5 meters long from north to south and 5.4 meters wide from east to west. It was built on a stone pier. The temple is dedicated to the woodcarving statues of the six ancestors of Zen.
9. Yun Qi Tower
Yun Qi Tayuan is the only Bhikuni Dojo in Henan. The main buildings in the courtyard are the Yun Qi Pagoda rebuilt in the Jin Dynasty and the newly-built Zhaitang, Guest Hall and Zen Room. Among them, the Yun Qi Tower was built in the Eastern Han Dynasty, formerly known as "Sakyamuni Tower", which was repeatedly destroyed by war. It was built in the 15th year of Jin Dading (1 175). Splendid Sakya Pagoda is a square brick pagoda with dense eaves, 13 floors and a height of about 25 meters. It is one of the earliest existing ground buildings in Luoyang. In the Qing Dynasty, the abbot of Baima Temple, Ruxian, changed its name to Yun Qi Tower according to the record that Emperor Hanming founded Yun Qi Tower. After the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC), Luoyang Municipal People's Government protected the Yun Qi Tower, which was built in 1990, covering an area of 15 mu. The hospital faces south, and the plane is rectangular. On the central axis from south to north, there are buildings such as mountain gate, discharge pool, stone arch bridge and Yun Qi Tower. There are ancillary buildings on the east and west sides of Yun Qi Tower: there are 3 Buddhist temples and 3 fasting halls on the west side; There are 3 guest rooms, 3 training classrooms and a meditation room on the east side, all of which are hard mountain style. On both sides of the mountain gate are large Buddhist stone tablets, on the west are portraits and biographies of thirty-three ancestors of Zen Buddhism, and on the east are The Story of Sakyamuni Hua Ying and the great monk Mo Bao. Around 1999, Baima Temple took over the "Di Gong Temple" built by Baima Temple Town Government and rebuilt it. In addition, new sightseeing facilities such as rockeries, viewing pavilions and release ponds have been built.
Second, the inscription
There are more than 40 ancient inscriptions preserved in Baima Temple. Among them, the most historic stone carvings are: Song Chongning's two-year stone carving, Jin's Rebuilding Sakya Temple Pagoda, Yuan's Suicide Letter of Longchuan Monk, Yuan's Ancestral Temple of Baima Temple and Ming's Rebuilding Baimachan Ancient Temple.
After 1990, Baima Temple successively accepted the Buddha statues presented by international friends and lay people, which were enshrined in different halls.
Thai Buddha statues are enshrined in Buddhist temples in Thailand. 199 1 year, Mr. Wattana, Minister of the Interior of Thailand, and Ms. Chang Yuan, a friend, presented it to Baima Temple as a sacrifice. The bronze gilded Buddha statue is 7.2 meters high and weighs 6.68 tons.
The statue of Prince Sakyamuni was enshrined in the Fabao Pavilion and presented after Indian Prime Minister Rao visited the White Horse Temple during his visit to China in September. 1993. The Buddha statue is1.50m high, with a high thread bun, and the left cassock stands on the seat.
Thumb-sized ancient Buddha statue in China, gilded with copper, sits on Mount Sumeru. It is the only Buddha statue with a strange shape in the world. Originated in the Eastern Han Dynasty in China, it was first carved in the Baima Temple in Luoyang, then spread among the people, spread from the Western Regions to South Asia and Southeast Asia, and finally collected in the Thai Museum and a wealthy businessman in Thailand. 1995 Thailand copied two statues, one of which was returned to Baima Temple to worship the sutra depository.
The reclining jade Buddha was carved into reclining jade Buddha statue with Burmese jade worship around 1996. Inspired by bonze Ben Huan of Hongfa Temple and wise mage of Baima Temple, some lay people in Shenzhen and Guangzhou donated money in succession. 1996 was escorted to Baima Temple by the sage mage and enshrined in Woyu Buddha Hall. 1997 12 19, Baima Temple held a unique opening ceremony. This Buddha statue, carved from Burmese jade, is 5 meters long and weighs 8 tons, lying on a couch.
Third, the wishing pool
It is said that there is an ancient wishing pool with a history of thousands of years in Baima Temple Scenic Area. According to legend, this Millennium wishing well can bring good luck, health and peace to people.
Therefore, many tourists who come to visit and enjoy the scenery are scrambling to put coins into the wishing ancient well in order to be "lucky". According to a monk in charge of cleaning up the coins in Neigujing in Baima Temple Scenic Area, it is a long-standing custom to throw coins at the wishing ancient well in order to be "auspicious", especially for Chinese and foreign tourists who come to visit the temple and burn incense and worship Buddha on major holidays, in order to be "auspicious and safe", they specially rushed to the wishing ancient well to throw coins. When they are busy, they have to clean up all kinds of coins in the ancient well three or four times a day at most.
