The college, formerly known as Jingdezhen Ceramic School and Jiangxi Arts and Crafts School, was founded in 1958, but it was closed for historical reasons and resumed running in the current campus on 1979. The college currently covers an area of 389 mu, with a building area of 10. 1.2 million square meters, with more than 200 full-time teachers, including 62 teachers with deputy senior titles and above, and 25 teachers with double qualifications. Among them, there are "young and middle-aged experts with outstanding contributions" who enjoy the special allowance of the State Council, professor-level senior engineers, national and provincial arts and crafts masters, outstanding teachers at the provincial and ministerial levels, and outstanding class teachers. More than 20 teachers are studying for master's and doctoral degrees in Tongji University, Xiamen University, South China University of Technology, Yunnan University and other institutions of higher learning. The college invited 26 famous experts and arts and crafts masters from South China University of Technology, including Zheng Yuehua, Qu, Qin Xilin and Zhou Jianer, as visiting professors. The college has a well-equipped professional practice base and artistic creation center, as well as well-equipped multimedia classrooms, language laboratories, art exhibition halls, dance and body training halls, computer network centers, high-standard teaching buildings, student apartments, student canteens and standard sports grounds. All kinds of teaching and living facilities are complete, and the management is scientific and strict, which provides a strong soft and hard guarantee for students' study and life.

The college adheres to the tenet of "moral education first, teaching as the main axis", and the teaching quality and running efficiency have been steadily improved. Over the past 20 years, more than 1 1000 professionals have been trained for the society. Most of them have become business backbones in all fronts, some have taken up leadership positions at all levels, hundreds of them have been admitted to famous undergraduate colleges for further study, and several scholars have obtained master's or doctoral degrees or studied abroad. The scientific research and innovation achievements of the college are gratifying. The application of sesbania gum modified products in ceramic industry and the automatic flue gas analyzer of catalytic carrier kiln won the National Science and Technology Progress Award. More than 20 monographs such as "Ceramic Technology" and "Ceramic Decoration Techniques" were selected as national textbooks. Nearly 100 works of art by teachers and students, such as Autumn Wind Whistling and Wild Goose Flying South, Xiangman Gankun and Shuli, won prizes at home and abroad and were collected by museums. A large number of works, such as Autumn Rhyme, Porcelain Soul, Ancient Echo and Tian, created by famous ceramists and teachers in our college, won the first prize in the International Ceramic Design Competition, the National Ceramic Design Competition, the Asian Craft Exhibition and the China Arts and Crafts Masters Works Expo respectively. Students at school have participated in the basic skills competitions of foreign languages, computers and speeches in the province for many times and won the first prize. At the same time, the "National Ceramic Training Base for Primary and Secondary Schools" of the Ministry of Education of our college receives a large number of domestic and foreign tourists and primary and secondary school students engaged in ceramic production every year, and has received good social benefits. In recent years, the college has had frequent exchanges with foreign countries, established a friendship college with the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Reunion, and carried out teaching and scientific research cooperation with Taiwan Province Province, Hongkong, Macau, Japan, South Korea and other Southeast Asian countries, which has had a wide impact.

The college is open to the whole country, with more than 4,000 students from all over the country, including Hongkong and Taiwan Province. There are four departments (arts and crafts, materials engineering, information engineering and business administration) and two departments (undergraduate education department and international exchange and cooperation department) with 39 majors. The college has opened up a wide range of employment channels, opened up a broad employment market throughout the country and established a fixed employment network. It has been rated as "Advanced Collective of Employment in Jiangxi Province" for many times. The graduates have strong professional characteristics, good practical ability and high comprehensive quality, which are well received by employers.
