Henan Kaifeng Science and Technology Media College (referred to as Henan Kechuan for short) was founded in 2003, and its predecessor, Minsheng College of Henan University, was one of the earliest independent colleges in China.
In 2009, Henan University, a century-old school, joined forces with Henan Daily Newspaper Group, a well-known domestic cultural media enterprise, to co-host the school. In February, 20021year, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the school was transformed into a full-time ordinary undergraduate college, renamed Kaifeng Science and Technology Media College in Henan Province, and became the only private undergraduate college named after the province.
The school now has nine secondary colleges of science and engineering, media, medicine, art, economics, business, humanities, sports and continuing education, covering nine disciplines: literature, science, engineering, economics, management, law, medicine, education and art.
Among the existing undergraduate majors, there are 3 provincial-level disciplines, 2 provincial-level key disciplines, 7 provincial-level brand majors, 4 provincial-level characteristic majors, 2 provincial-level comprehensive reform pilot majors, and 2 provincial-level excellent grassroots teaching organizations.
The school takes "socialist builders and successors with all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique, beauty and labor" as its training goal, and pays special attention to students' ideological and political education, physical education and social practice education.
Schools use winter and summer vacations to organize students to participate in a variety of social practice activities such as science and technology, sports, art, medicine going to the countryside, and helping the elderly and orphans, so as to cultivate students' sense of social responsibility and enhance their professional quality and practical ability.
