Professor Zhao Xudong led the completion of the first training program for senior psychotherapists in China (the famous "Middle Durban"), which promoted the international advanced psychotherapy technology to the whole country. He has undertaken many projects, including those of the National Natural Science Foundation, and won many provincial and ministerial scientific and technological progress awards.
1996 was elected as the national young and middle-aged medical science and technology star. In May 2002, he was awarded the May 1st Labor Medal by the All-China Federation of Trade Unions. In February 2002, he was rated as a young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contributions by the Ministry of Health. He is currently the head of the preparatory working group of Shanghai Sino-German Friendship Hospital, a member of the Standing Committee of China Psychiatric Association, a member of the Standing Committee of China Psychiatrist Association, a vice-chairman of the Professional Committee of Clinical and Counseling Psychology of Chinese Psychological Association, a vice-chairman of the Professional Committee of Psychotherapy and Counseling of Chinese Mental Health Association, the Chinese chairman of-China Psychotherapy Institute, and the director of the Department of Psychosomatic Medicine of Oriental Hospital affiliated to Tongji University. Won the "sigmund freud Prize" in 2008.
